From Dancer to Director: The Story of Powerhouse Dance

Lyndsie Clymer’s dance journey began at just three years old when she stepped into Dynamic Motion Dance Academy (DMDA) hiding behind her mom’s leg because she was shy. She grew up within DMDAs walls—dancing through elementary, middle, and high school. By her junior year, Lyndsie was not only assisting teachers but also teaching classes herself. In 2019, she became company director, and on June 1, 2025, she officially purchased the very studio where her passion for dance first bloomed. 

Summer 2025 marked a new chapter as DMDA was renovated and rebranded into Powerhouse Dance. The name change isn’t about leaving the past behind, but rather honoring it—preserving cherished memories while stepping boldly into the future. The inspiration for the new name comes from Lyndsie’s own legacy as a “powerhouse dancer,” a title she was often given growing up.

“Never in a million years did I think I’d be creating a space for dancers and carrying on a beautiful legacy, all at the same time” -Lyndsie. Over the years, countless dancers have started training within these walls, many of whom—like Miss Mikayla Skogen, Miss Sara Muchnij, Miss Tami Jewell, Miss Lilly Jewell, and Miss Sherry Henderson all former teachers and staff. Together, they continue the heart of DMDA while striving toward new heights with Powerhouse Dance.

At its core, Powerhouse Dance is more than a studio—it’s a family. It’s a place where young dancers are encouraged to be themselves, to grow, and to push their limits. Dance, after all, is not only about perfecting technique but also about expressing, learning, and inspiring. While not every student will pursue a career in dance, Lyndsie and her team believe that if dancers leave the studio feeling loved, confident, and motivated, then the mission has been accomplished. Powerhouse Dance takes pride in offering high-quality instruction across a wide variety of styles, including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Acro, Ballroom, Jazz Funk, Pom, Stretch/Strength, Mommy & Me, and Diversity Classes. At Powerhouse Dance, students don’t just learn to dance, they learn to believe in themselves.
